Comment posted Why are Republicans being blamed for the economy, when it was fine for Bush’s first six years in office? by Mignon M.
Because the treasury is Republican.

- Ever since Moveon.org came on the scene there have been an abnormally high number of smear articles against Bush with the mainstream media following right behind.
I don’t think anyone would recognize the truth anymore if it bit them in the ACORN.
I heard Obama rewriting history Tuesday night when he said we abandoned Afghanistan then Osama got away … Osama got away first. Look it up.
The economy is the same way. Clinton was loosing ground on the economy 6 months before he left office. Bush turned it back around until the Democrats took over congress.
- why not blame them? why arent you guys owning up? you point the finger all day long at democrats, but expect democrats to give you republicans a pat on the back, i don’t think so. try again. are you even an american? can i get some chow mein?
- Bush was having a party with Clintons money now its the after party hangover effects

- Sorry but its too late to shift the blame, you’ve lost the election.
- The problems with the economy have to do with all of the Republican lobbyists that are on McCains campaign.
Ask them, seriously. Countrywide has been giving bogus loans to any foreigner with a passport a loan with no credit checks, and who knows what other BS they have been up to, now everything is failing because it is too hard to clean up their books with all the foreigners that are walking away from their loans and abandoning their properties.
The lobbyists on McCain’s campaign are friends with all the banks and insurance companies that have ruined our economy and are actually the cause of Iceland looking at bankruptcy, China’s stock market is having problems, and Japan’s economy is not stable, heck many countries are haveing economical problems and AIG is smack-dad in the middle too.
McCain and his lobbyists are not fooling everybody, so, get smart. And not that it matters to you, because you ain’t nobody, nobody for legal citizens of the United States to worry about.

- Travel ideas for last week in January – Europe?
go to italy, it has all of what you would like to see and do, plus more. cant be beat!!!! - Travel ideas for last week in January – Europe?
Since the end of January is off-peak, you can find great deals in Europe, along with MUCH cheaper airfare.
I would tour Italy. The weather is better there than in the rest of Europe in the winter, they have great train service, and if you are interested in art and architecture, it will be more than you could ever see in just one trip.
You should fly into Rome, from which you can go to Pisa, Florence, and Venice on the train. You might consider getting a Eurail Pass; they have them for individual countries.
Italy has many self-serve restaurants where you can get a delicious and inexpensive meal. They are basically cafeterias, but smaller.
In 1990, the last trip I took to Florence, we stayed at the 2-star Hotel Santa Croce, which is 2 blocks from Santa Croce cathedral where Michelangelo’s tomb is. It was run by a family and had just 9 rooms. It was quite inexpensive, even in July when we were there. There are also pensiones, where all meals are included.
Have a great trip! - A Nice Collection of Classical Relaxing Music?

I’m surprised anyone would stick there neck out for Bush.
Are you seriously asking this question? The economy wasn’t fine during Bush’s first six years of presidency. Look at our debt.. he has doubled it.. Look at where we are at now? Do you actually think it took us 1 year to get us where we are at now? do you think it took us a year to have an economic crisis? It’s been building up since he since he took office.. he actually made it worse..
because they refuse to see or hear the TRUTH just like they refuse to hear and see what Obama really is
It is of no doubt that democrats signed such bills that allowed the lower class to purchase houses.. BUT.. those were different times, and there was not a economic meltdown being broadcast by the majority of economists during the Clinton years.
Fast forward to the Bush administration, there were plenty of warnings while Republicans and Democrats were in the Congress. But neither did anything about it.
This is the fault of a corrupt government on both sides. The republicans wanted to take credit for a strong economy while they were in office, and even supported such bills.
Trying to place the blame entirely on democrats is not going to work. As I said, when those bills were passed it was different times, we were not in war, we had a surplus, and it was not opposed by most economists.
The reason the economy was ‘fine’ when Bush was president was because the banks were still brokering these predatory loan mortgages as if they were worth something. The economy under Bush wasn’t fine; people just hadn’t realized how buttressed up the economy was. That house of cards would eventually collapse, which is what happened in 2007.
Honestly, I refuse to vote Republican because they never own up to their own mistakes. Where’s the accountability? I can’t trust people to not continue to make mistakes when those people don’t recognize the ones they’ve already made.
lolz. Sorry but this is AMERICAS DOING in general not just one side.
Personally I like Bush I think hes doing a great job and can do a far better one than obama
George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years.
The first six, the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000 +
5) Americans were buying new cars,taking cruises, vacations
overseas, living large!…
But Americans wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress, and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now near $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by
12 TRILLION DOLLARS and prices are still dropping;
5) 10% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) THE DOW is probing another low.
7) $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM
THEIR STOCKS, BONDS, MUTUAL FUNDS,
INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS, AND PENSIONS.
YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! ….
Have a Great 2008!
Change is Coming
Oh Jennifer – you’re deluding yourself.
Have you seen how much Bush has been borrowing each year to balance the books?
About 20% more than his income.
If you had a job that paid $50,000 – do you think it would be wise to spend $62000 every year for 8 years?
After 8 years you’ve got a debt for $96000 – and you already had a debt of $96000 at the beginning.
This is both parties working together first to transfer wealth from the working people to the wealthy and debt from the wealthy to the people. No way this happens without the government and wall street working together. To blame one party and not the other is to play right into there plan, but the rubes fall for it every time.
You must have been asleep for the last eight years. You need to decide where to place blame. You start with a slim majority in the legislature for just going on two years, then switch to the Clinton Administration, eight years ago. If the problems started there, the Republicans have had ample time to turn things around. The truth is that the nation has been dealing too long and relying too much on credit. You cannot lower taxes and make up the difference by borrowing. This nation has been sold out to the highest bidders by the Republican Party and it is the American taxpayers that will pay the cost.
ah no, it hasn’t been fine for the first six years. The first major blunder by the Bush administration was the Iraq war as far as I’m concerned when a President lies about this, he is and forever will be at the point of no return. I have been struggling for about 4 to 5 years now, funny when Clinton was in office I could pay all my bills AND go out to eat and such! The last time I could afford to go out to eat was when we got the stimulus package in June. That is 4 months ago, pretty sad that my husband works 70 hours per week at good paying jobs and the BASIC necessities take up nearly all our income. It is Bush’s fault
